It is reported that electric valves suitable for incorporation into laboratory equipment can now be custom-designed by Omnifit (Plate 5). Designed for a wide range of chemical and environmental applications, the company's standard range of electric valves can be modified or completely redesigned to meet laboratory equipment manufacturers' requirements.

Manufactured from chemically and biologically inert materials, all valves are said to incorporate minimal dead volume to eliminate sample contamination and maintain smooth fluid flow. Omnifit reports that its design team can engineer bespoke valves for specific OEM applications, with prototyping and manufacturing carried out in-house to ensure a close customer relationship throughout the design process. The standard range includes electrical rotary valves, solenoid operated pinch valves, mixing valves and electric solenoid valves, all with a wide range of porting options and bore sizes to ensure complete flexibility.

Omnifit has over 27 years' experience in the design and manufacture of fluids handling equipment, including laboratory connectors and fittings, chromatography columns, solvent delivery systems and gas driers. It specialises in high performance plastics which, according to the company, enable components to be used with confidence even when highly corrosive or sensitive materials are involved.
