Laminating Inks 4 Colour Process Inks

Keywords: Frontier printing inks, Inks, Laminates

FPI has recently introduced a new generation of high performance 4-colour process laminating inks - Prolink III Laminating Inks to compliment its Nylink Laminating Ink system. We are informed that there has been a strong response to these products, which claim excellent colour densities with 600-1000 line screen aniloxes chamber doctor blade systems, very clean print with sharp dot definition and little or no plate cleaning during production runs. Solvent retention is claimed to be very low even on high speed runs in excess of 300 meters/min with excellent adhesive or extrusion bonds on a wide range of plastics.

The company are offering a chemical resistant and lightfast version of these Prolink III products for more demanding applications. These inks are 100 per cent alcohol dilutable and will reportedly provide significant advantages to printers over existing ink systems where graphic fidelity and trouble-free performance are required.

The company has also reformulated and introduced 3 additional high performance 4-color process ink series - Pioneer HR Process Inks, Promax II Process Inks and the Hypak Process Inks.

The Pioneer HR Process Inks are described as high colour density, heat resistant inks for plastics, paper and aluminium foils for portion packaging, overwraps and many heat seal applications where a combination of good gloss, scuff resistance, colour strength and heat resistance are required. Inks can reportedly be run trouble free for extended periods with little or no plate cleaning.

The Promax II Process Inks are a revision of its previous Promax inks claiming additional colour density, clean printing and trouble free performance for extended periods.

A modified version of its Hyplus series water based inks have been formulated and introduced for high strength 4 colour process printing applications, the company's Hypak Process Inks. These inks also claim excellent overall adhesion to a wide range of substrates for both narrow web and wide web applications. They reportedly provide good gloss and are internally cross-linking for improved overall resistance properties. FPI considered them suitable for printing with and without an overlacquer. A broad range of UV and water based overprints are available to compliment these inks.
