Rohm and Haas Company recently announced plans to build an acrylic emulsion facility in Nhon Trach city, within the Dong Nai province of Vietnam. The company will spend approximately $10 million for this facility, which will serve the needs of the paint and coatings market. Scheduled to be completed by the middle of 2009, the new plant will join a network of 12 plants across the Asia-Pacific region, part of a system of 34 plants worldwide.

“This is a great investment for Rohm and Haas, one that has significant strategic benefits,” said Bruce Hoechner, vice president and Asia-Pacific regional director for the $2 billion paints and coatings materials business. “We have been importing products into the Vietnamese market for more than 12 years, trying to keep up with demand by bringing in products from operations in China and Thailand. However, demand continues to grow, and is now expected to grow at 15 percent per year for the next ten years.”
