Valpak launches free environmental training seminars for businesses

Valpak, a leading provider of environmental solutions, has launched a number of free environmental training seminars for the UK businesses. These seminars are designed to keep businesses up-to-date with ever changing environmental legislation and industry developments as well as providing an excellent opportunity for businesses to network and share their experiences.

The seminars are free of charge, open to any the UK business and will run throughout 2013 covering a variety of areas, including:

  • legal compliance;

  • cost savings/reduction; and

  • improving environmental performance.

Duncan Simpson, Director of Sales and Marketing, commented:

“In today’s environment organisations are finding that they are challenged with meeting increasingly demanding sustainability and CSR targets. Setting the right objectives and implementing efficient and simple strategies to meet these objectives has never been more important. We recognise that sometimes it’s difficult to find time and resource to keep up-to-date with environmental legislation and industry developments. With this in mind we’re running a whole host of free Environmental Training Seminars throughout 2013.”

He added:

“If businesses want peace of mind that they’re fully compliant, our Environmental Training Seminars are designed to keep them up-to-date with ever changing environmental legislation and industry developments. If the focus is to reduce costs in 2013 we’ve got seminars covering effective energy management and waste management. Or if their goal is to improve their environmental performance/reputation we’re running seminars on implementing an environmental management system, e.g. ISO 14001.”

Comprehensive training on elastomer seal design and material selection from Precision Polymer Engineering

Precision Polymer Engineering (PPE), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high performance moulded elastomer seals has just announced its training programme for 2013. This follows a successful global programme of training courses and workshops held during 2012.

As a designer and manufacturer of elastomer o-rings and other components, PPE has a team of specialist materials scientists and applications engineers focused on developing effective sealing solutions for demanding applications. This team has a built up wide range of expertise in materials development and selection and seal design. Each year the team works with many customers to create effective, reliable sealing solutions even in very challenging conditions such as high temperature and aggressive chemical environments.

The accumulated expertise of the PPE team has been used to develop and deliver a range of training workshops on seal technology and design. These training workshops will be of interest to all design, maintenance and applications engineers faced with the need to understand and create reliable sealing solutions for their critical equipment and systems. PPE offers five different courses, focused at three levels and includes industry-specific courses:

  • 1.

An introduction to elastomer materials and how o-rings work.

  • 2.

Elastomer technology and seal design for the oil and gas industry.

  • 3.

Elastomer technology and seal design for the semiconductor industry.

  • 4.

Elastomer technology and seal design for the diesel/aero engine industry.

  • 5.

Advanced elastomer technology and seal design for critical applications.

The courses last from 1/2 day to two days and are held in locations around the world including various countries in Europe, the USA and Asia.

Over the last five years in excess of 500 engineers have attended PPE training courses and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The benefits of this training include building up knowledge and expertise in seal and groove design and an appreciation of elastomer material properties and selection.

Malvern launches new imaging masterclass webinar series

Malvern Instruments’ new series of web-based imaging masterclasses kicked off on 26 February 2013 with an introduction to imaging for particle characterization. The series will then continue through the year and will cover a broad range of imaging topics. Alongside this will run the laser diffraction masterclass series which will discuss subjects including wet method development, dry method development, optical property selection and specification setting.

The opening “introduction to imaging” webinar is designed to provide a basic understanding into the theory behind making particle characterization measurements using imaging-based techniques. In line with Malvern’s established masterclass concept, the whole series will deliver information on topics of specific interest to a broad audience and to people with varied levels of particle characterization experience and technical expertise.

Intended to serve as a non-commercial, educational series, the new Imaging masterclass program is the most recent in Malvern’s extensive webinar masterclass collection. The series will be presented by Malvern’s technical and applications experts and is aimed at operators looking to get the most from their analytical techniques as well as those who simply wish to expand their understanding of the subject area.
