K. Dietzel; farbe & lack, Aug. 1972, p. 713 Attempts are made to define hardness and scratch resistance for plastics, and to develop a testing method. Measuring various materials, it was found that the brittle materials such as glass are more scratch resistant. In addition some plastics were found which, despite their considerable ‘softness’, were practically unscratchable.
