A patented process of fusing a glass liner to the bore of fine metal tubing has been introduced by Scientific Glass Engineering (Australia). This development has overcome the traditional problems in chromatography of catalytic decomposition, adsorption and contamination associated with stainless steel tubing. In addition to facilitating the construction of all glass systems, the tubing will withstand high temperatures and pressures and may be bent, cut and silver soldered by the user. Heating of the tube can be carried out by applying a low voltage across the metal casing.
