The ability to determine the bulk density of pigments, chemicals, rubber, etc., has generally proved a difficult problem, due to the scarcity of suitable precision instruments. The recently‐marketed JEL jolting volumeter, manufactured by F. Copley & Co, Private Road Seven, Colwick Industrial Estate, Nottingham NG4 2ER, has been developed to ease this difficulty. The device complies to the standards ISO R787, US 527–70 and German DIN 53 194.
