After an introductory period of just under two years, Degussa AG of Frankfurt am Main (Federal Republic of Germany) has included a toner resin to be known as OT 5201 in its production programme. This is the former experimental product VT OP 409, a suspension polymer with a monomer composition of 70% styrene and 30% acrylate. It is particularly suitable for powder toner formulations intended for thermal and pressure fixing. The new toner resin's properties can be adjusted to suit specific technical production needs by altering the monomer proportions or by specific changes to the molecular weight.
