A number of reports have been published recently suggesting a possible relationship between lung cancer and prolonged inhalation of some chromate compounds. They do not, however, enable any conclusions to be drawn with regard to lead chromate pigments. The British Colour Makers' Association reports that as a result European producers of lead chrome pigments are co‐operating with the Dry Color Manufacturers' Association of the USA, together with Canadian and Japanese producers, in studies to define toxicological problems arising in the manufacture and handling of these materials.
