A new Hunterlab spectrophotometer has been developed which uses only a single beam of light to achieve simplicity and flexibility in geometric illuminating and viewing of specimens. The spectrophotometer features separate sensor and processor units, with only digital signals transmitted between them. The second unit contains a microprocessor, which makes all of the calibrating adjustments and conversions to a wide variety of colour scales automatically and at high speeds.
