Seldom has the construction industry had access to information of such basic significance and practical value as that contained in BSI's latest code of practice, BS 5493 Protective coating of iron and steel structures against corrosion. Originally published in 1966 as CP 2008 the standard has been extensively revised to reflect subsequent technological development. It makes it clear that the application of organic coatings is still, in general, the major method of protection.
