Body temperature recorded up to 315°C

It is reported that the ability of Hycontrol's TPT400 temperature sensors to withstand high ambient temperatures experienced inside an infra-red oven for baking automotive paint has won them an order from Heracus Nobelight.

Each of the ovens manufactured by HeraeusNobelight contains 12 water/air cooled sensors to accurately detect the surface temperature of the paint as it leaves the drying process.

According to Hycontrol TPT400 temperature sensors can operate in ambient temperature ranges from 70-315°C(158-600°F) and use micromachined thermopile detectors to measure temperature up to 2,000°C.

Full system integration and remote adjustment is possible via a simple loop-powered two wire cable using Hart protocol. The Hart signal combines industry standard 4-20mA output with simultaneous digital communications allowing other devices to remain online.

A combination of this loop-power facility, good accuracy, ability to withstand the high temperatures and low cost, all contributed to Hycontrol winning the supply contract.
