The Global Fitness Program of Hüls AG, Marl, established to enhance the company's international competitiveness, is taking on ever more distinct contours. After the group's complete polystyrene activities had been already concentrated in Styrenix Kunststoffe GmbH & Co., KG last October, the other new companies are starting their activities: Conitensio Chemicals GmbH, Creanova Spezialchemie GmbH, Creavis Gesellscchaft für Technologie und Innovation mbH, Oxeno Olefinchemie GmbH and Sivento Chemie GmbH.
The former service units of Hüls AG will be grouped under Hüls Infracor GmbH whose duty it will be to offer the companies based in Marl and potential investors an infrastructure with internationally competitive services and thus ensure the profitable expansion of the Marl chemicals park.
Contensio Chemicals GmbH is a company with international activities and a leading market position in Europe for surfactants and selected performance chemicals. The strategic aims are to defend and expand this position and to globalize these activities through cooperations, acquisitions and joint ventures. The production sites are in Marl and Witten as well as at the Dutch subsidiary, Servo BV, Delden. Sales revenues total DM800 million with approximately 1,000 employees.
Creanova Spezialchemie GmbH is a company with worldwide activities and leading market positions for a number of engineering plastics, intermediates, colorants and crosslinking agents for coating raw materials. The production sites are located in Germany (Marl,Lulsdorf, Witten, Herne and Steyerberg), Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia. With some 4,600 employees worldwide, the largest operative Hüls subsidiary targets annual sales revenues of DM2.7 billion.
Creavis Gesellschaft für Technologie und Innovation mbH is responsible for the strategic R&D projects which will create new business options for Hüls. Around 130 employees will be involved in the further development of existing small businesses and are expected to achieve sales revenues of around DM100 million. Ideas which are not to be further pursued by Hüls will be made available by the company to external research institutes and innovation centres under license within the framework of the Alliance for Innovation.
Oxeno Olefinchemie GmbH is a leading manufacturer of C4 products, oxo-alcohols, plasticizers and solvents. Thanks to the continual process improvements in recent years, the company is able to employ low-cost and internationally competitive production processes.
Sivento Chemie GmbH with its subsidiaries Sivento Chemie Rheinfelden GmbH (including the new production facilities in the Bitterreid chemicals park) and Hüls Silicone GmbH in Nunchritz conducts its worldwide activities from Dusseldorf. The silicon chemistry business was incorporated into the Hüls Group with the acquisition of the silanes activities of the former Dynamit Nobel AG. Following the streamlining of the product range and the expansion of the central product lines, Hüls transformed the Rheinfelden works in South Baden into a completely integrated site for monomer silicon chemistry.
