A new concept in paint spray extraction has been launched in the UK by Redditch-based fluids handling systems specialists Prodef Engineers, known as the 900 Series Spray Panel (Plate 4).
Manufactured in Germany by the long established paint spray equipment company, Walther Pilot, they claim to offer a low cost, high performance alternative to conventional spray booths.
As the function of paint spray booths is to trap paint droplets caused by overspray before they reach the atmosphere, all booth extraction systems must be cleaned regularly. This is often a lengthy and expensive process particularly when labyrinth type pre-filters are fitted.
Walther Pilot have tackled this and other problems associated with conventional spray booths by creating the 900 Series spray panels, which claim a number of advantages.

According to Prodef the new spray panels are fitted with special CI filter mats, manufactured from recycled paper which feature high separation efficiency along with exceptionally long service life. Prodef go on to state that thanks to the multi-layered sandwich design of the CI filter mat, the service life has been extended to at least twice that of normal glass fibre type elements, while still maintaining highly efficient micro particle absorption, contributing significantly towards improved pollution control.
Because the 900 Series spray panels are available in standard sizes, they can be produced using modular methods, considerably lowering production costs, resulting in a range of budget priced extraction systems aimed at the price conscious user.
Additionally, the 900 Series panels are supplied in an easy to assemble "flat pack" format, further reducing costs.
Once assembled using the clearly marked assembly guide and connected to an adequate exit air system, the spray panels are ready for immediate use.
The 900 Series spray panels are produced in standard working widths between 1 and 2.5m.
