Available from Rayfast is the RT110 fast cure, general purpose epoxy adhesive for production and repair operations in the automotive, defence and industrial sectors.

Specially formulated by Resintech, RT110 is a natural, two-part, medium viscosity epoxy adhesive. It achieves a strong bond to metals, glass, wood, rubber, pottery and many plastic materials in a very short time. With a milky white resin and clear hardener, it cures to a translucent film or can be colour-matched to the product application.

RT110 is stated to be suitable for applications involving continuous immersion in water at depth and has good fluid and chemical resistance.

Rayfast informs us that the rate of cure of RT110 depends on temperature. At normal room temperatures,the adhesive will gel in five to ten minutes and develop handling strength within 15 minutes. Typical properties are seven minutes usable life at 25°C;120 minutes time to full cure at 25°C; 20MPa lap shear strength (AI/AI at 25°C); and 47MPa tensile strength at 25°C.

RT110 is generally supplied in Resintech's custom TwinPack packaging and delivery system, which is convenient to store or carry in a tool kit without deterioration, self-contained and ready for use. It can also be supplied in DuoSyringe packaging for well organised batch production operations.

With the TwinPack concept,the epoxy is mixed in a sealed plastic pouch and applied from the same bag after a corner has been cut off. This reportedly results in a thorough precise mixing with much less mess. Components are accurately measured and kept free from moisture or other contamination right up to the time of use. This leads to quicker, easier, cleaner and safer installations compared with conventional packaging methods.

Rayfast also states that waste is minimised and anyone handling the adhesive is protected against exposure to hazardous material. Any unused residue still in the pack will cure to an inert solid and in this form avoids liquid waste disposal problems.

Earlier this year Rayfast signed an exclusive agreement with Resintech, manufacturer of high performance resin systems, to distribute the full range of Resintech adhesives, sealants and encapsulants in the UK. Non-standard products and customised packages for lubricants, greases, varnishes and adhesives are also available through Rayfast.
