In World Patent 97/31985 Mitsubishi Pencil Kabushiki-Kaisha describes an oil-based pigment ink for writing utensils. It comprises at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of alcohols and glycol ethers, a pigment, and an acrylic resin. The acrylic resin is a copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of 50,000 or lower and obtained by the copolymerization of a monomer mixture comprising either styrene and a carboxylated acrylic monomer or styrene and an aminated acrylic monomer.
