Paint industry finds out that BIP is also in plastics

BIP Limited was able to demonstrate that it is more than a specialist manufacturer of coating resins when 30 members of the Birmingham Paint Varnish and Lacquer Club visited its Oldbury, West Midlands factory recently.

Hosted by Jane Sims(commercial and technical service manager for the BIP coating resins business),the visitors saw the company's extensive plastics moulding materials plant, the new warehousing facilities and the analytical laboratories as well as the recently refurbished coating resins plant and its newly commissioned R&D facilities (Plate 13).

Established 66 years ago and still the only organisation outside the USA to be affiliated to the influential Federated Society for Coating Technology (FSCT), the Birmingham Paint Club continues to meet every month to hear an expert speaker; on this occasion it was Peter Coventry, technical director of Granyte Limited. The visit to BIP, whose specialist technical adviser Bob Barrett is a past president of the Birmingham Paint Club, formed one of the club's occasional "outside" events.
