BASF has extended its series "Topics in chemistry" with a new publication called "Performance chemicals".
Advances in the chemistry of molecular systems have greatly stimulated research in performance chemicals. A particular characteristic of performance chemicals is that normally they are very effective in small amounts.
Two trends characterize the developments of modern performance chemicals. On the one hand, customers'requirements are an inherent part of the research right from the beginning. On the other hand, ecological demands placed on these chemicals are increasingly becoming as important as the demands placed on their performance.
Individual articles,written by BASF researchers and university academics, describe a wide variety of typical applications and properties of performance chemicals. They cover modern textile finishing, the chemistry of modern papermaking, surfactants in fuel additives and many other topics.
