The Isopak 1000 rigid intermediate bulk container has been introduced by Transpak IBC Ltd for the safe and economic transportation or storage of fluids (Plate 7). Container bodies are manufactured from stainless steel, with reinforced galvanised frames and protective guards for the valvework, and they reportedly comply with the strict regulations controlling the handling of dangerous goods.

The Isopak 1000 has a capacity of 1,000 litres, but containers from 500-2,000 litres capacity can also be supplied. They are said to be particularly suited to the more aggressive acids and solvents associated with the chemical and petrochemical industries, but other products used for ink, paint and pharmaceutical manufacture and even food processing can be accommodated. Provision can also be made for fluid heating using steam, water jacket or trace heating elements. An integral cooling coil can also be fitted, together with equipment for stirring/agitation.

All containers are stated to be manufactured in accordance with UN requirements to cover transportation throughout Europe and other countries. Skid mountings have been designed for fork lift truck handling, and containers can be stacked two high when loaded and also interconnected when banked to provide even greater bulk storage capacity.

These are manufactured in mild steel and provide the economic solution for handling Sodium Hypochlorite solution and other similarly difficult or dangerous chemicals, where container bodies can be lined with a low density polyethylene suitable for use with corrosive fluids. Bespoke containers, together with a re-certification, refurbishment and repair service can also be provided.
