French company,Mondialisol, is looking for UK and Irish distributors for its Isolflam process which minimizes the risk of fires starting and spreading around electric cables(Plate 9).

Isolflam is available as a coating or as a mastic and has two functions: it prevents the propagation of fire along cables and, applied to rock wool supports, it seals the openings made for cables so as to reconstitute the fire-break capacity of floors and walls. The product is said to contain no asbestos or solvents.

Isolflam is believed to be an excellent fire-break with a resistance of at least two hours. It is also resistant to smoke and flue gas, Isolflam can be applied as a coating with a spray gun when used as a barrier for overhead cables in channels. The 3mm film also increases the service life of cables in the event of fire.

Isolflam is an inert,thixotropic mastic composed of special resins. It is said to be environmentally friendly and meets European hygiene and safety standards. Tested and certified by a number of European laboratories, this product protects electrical and IT facilities, air-conditioning ducts and piping on industrial sites and in all types of collective building.
