Thermo LabSystems(Altrincham, UK and Beverly, Massachusetts, USA) has been awarded a contract for providing Laboratory Information Systems to 16 Eastman Chemical Company manufacturing sites over the next three years. The contract calls for a pilot project to be completed by early 1999 and initially deployed at three Eastman manufacturing sites.

The installation will then be deployed at the remaining Eastman locations worldwide during 1999 and 2000. The SampleManager client/server Oracle-based LIMS (laboratory information management system) will provide advanced information handling. Its capabilities include automated laboratory instrumentation data acquisition through to integration with Eastman Chemical Company's business management systems and production information systems.
