Pira International held two image analysis open days recently at the organisation's headquarters in Leatherhead, which were attended by 14 representatives from the paper industry. The purpose of the open days was to demonstrate to a cross section of Pira's client base the scope of work and equipment being developed by the Paper and Board Group in the field of image analysis. Pira has been developing image analysis-based applications since 1989 and has introduced many paper and print measurement routines.

Each session comprised a series of presentations on a range of topics commencing with an introduction to image analysis and the issues involved. Each morning ended with informal discussions.
