In GB Patent 2315691 Sam Foo Liou describes a paint roller device. It includes a semi-enclosed trough for holding paint, a paint roller disposed in the trough, a uniform roller above the paint roller, a roller next to the uniform roller, and a U-shaped frame joining these rollers to the trough. The rollers are in contact so that, in use, when one roller turns, it drives the other two rollers so that paint is picked up by the paint roller and transferred to the uniform roller and then to another roller. During this transfer, the paint is uniformly distributed by a series of horizontal stripes on the paint roller and a number of criss-cross stripes on the uniform roller. The trough is also pivotally connected to the U-shaped frame so that it maintains a level position during use. The device prevents spilling and achieves an evenly painted surface.
