Spies Hecker receives Investors in People Award

Spies Hecker automotive refinishes reports that it has joined its wholly owned subsidiary, Spray Shop Supplies, in gaining the prestigious Investors in People Award. Patrick Currie,Spies Hecker's director, accepted the certificate presented by Mike Taylor,personnel director of HPG Industrial Coatings Ltd (Spies Hecker's parent company in the UK).

Investors in People is the National Standard which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation's performance through its people. By meeting this standard, Spies Hecker has been recognised for putting in place processes which will create an improved skill base, develop a competitive edge to secure its future prosperity and allow the company's business objectives to be expanded.

Vauxhall Paint Technician of the Year

Spies Hecker also informs us that the prestigious Vauxhall "Paint Technician of the Year" Award has gone to Chris Bamber from Walton's of Stafford using the Spies Hecker Waterborne System.

Walton's of Stafford became users of Spies Hecker's paint products only three months ago which makes the win a superb example of the user friendliness of Spies Hecker's Waterborne System.

Chris, who has worked at Walton's of Stafford for six years said, "Spies Hecker's Waterborne System is very simple to use and produces a really good finish. We had no changeover problems with the system whatsoever and didn't need to make any major changes to our ovens."

This is the third year in which Vauxhall has held the competition which attracts up to 200 entries for the two categories ­ Paint Technician of the Year and Panel Technician of the Year. It is also the third year that Spies Hecker has had at least one winner in the top three places.

Based on their initial questionnaires, ten finalists were selected from each category to go forward for a full day's practical evaluation at EMTEC in Nottingham. Here a series of tasks were carried out, including panel repair, paint fault diagnosis and paint rectification and these were judged by a panel including chief engineers from Cornhill and CGU insurance companies, DeVilbiss, Carter and Carter, and EMTEC.

Walton's of Stafford has double cause for celebration because its panel specialist, Simon Tripp, also took runner up position in the Vauxhall Panel Technician of the Year category.
