Complete solution for 2D coding and reading applications

Keywords Acquisition,Videojet

Thanks to its recent acquisition of Electronic Automation Limited of Hull, Videojet is now embarking on a programme of product expansion which will offer customers a single source for 2D coding and reading applications. This development brings together two leaders in their respective fields. EAL is the developer of the auto-ID code commonly known as "Snowflake" and Videojet, the world's leading expert in non-contact coding and marking technologies.

EAL is based in Hull and its business is broadly focussed on the design and supply of vision based inspection and identification systems for a range of market sectors. In particular, EAL systems are popular in industries such as pharmaceutical, packaging, glass, plastics, automotive, electronics, metal processing, retail and postal.

The Snowflake code is very compact with a high capacity for dense data. It is also a very robust code which can be used in conjunction with error correction technology to guarantee readability, even when up to 40 per cent of the code is obliterated. It is comprised of dots and is superior in its ability to be printed by many different printing methods. Indeed thanks to the Snowflake dot matrix format, it remains one of the few 2D codes suitable for application to virtually any substrate using ink jet and laser printing technologies.
