A leading company for some 30 years in the manufacture and marketing of polyamide coating powders, Elf Atochem has consolidated its technical facilities for customer assistance by setting up a pilot plant at its Research and Development Centre (CERDATO) at Serquigny (Normandy). This plant has been designed to reproduce fluidised bed coating techniques on a pilot scale.
The results of these tests are carefully studied in order to determine the optimum parameters in any given application. Customers can therefore be advised on the best processing conditions based on their particular applications, and on any equipment modifications or improvements required, without incurring costly and unproductive stoppages in production.
This pilot plant is the culmination of many years of experience in fluidisation, and of participation in the development and construction of the world's major fluidisation production lines. This know-how has resulted in an extensive range of Rilsan®polyamides for diverse coating applications, the major one and the impetus behind the creation of this plant being household appliances(dishwasher baskets). Other areas such as the water industry (pipes, joints,valves), transport, and particularly the automotive industry are also involved,as well as more specific markets such as supermarket trolleys and metal furniture.
