Second contract with BP Chemicals

Orbis Information Systems, the Dublin-based systems integrator, has recently secured its second major contract with BP Chemicals Saltend site in Hull, UK.

Orbis is already completing a site-wide Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) project for BP. Hull site is now rolling out the LabSystems SampleManager LIMS across 15 production plants where it is replacing a legacy Beckman LIMS. Rollout of the last plant is scheduled for completion by mid-April 1999.

The main features of the LIMS include laboratory workflows in relation to process manufacturing, real time interfacing to plant systems and on-plant instrumentation, and real time laboratory data displays to the plant.

Orbis Information Systems has also now secured the upgrade of the site's FS27 SetCIM (AspenTech). The system is a fully integrated Plant Information Management System with Allen Bradley PLCs.
