Suede finishes for plastics

Trimite has introduced two new special “Plastilac” polyurethane two-pack topcoats – “B269” and “BE270” –said to be suitable for a variety of plastic substrates. Typical applications for the new finishes include automotive interior trim, computers and business machines, high quality TV and video mouldings, audio and photographic equipment and mobile phone casings.

B269 is reported to be a specially formulated, fully compliant two-pack polyurethane “soft-feel” topcoat, based on latest technology resins,which provides a soft, leather-like premium coating. It claims high abrasion and good chemical resistance, excellent mechanical properties, also to be noise-absorbing and is available in a range of low-gloss, clear and coloured finishes. Theoretical coverage is 15 sq.m/litre at 25 microns.

BE270 uses a combination of polyurethane and resin beads which is said to create a flexible, abrasion- and mar-resistant, high quality suede effect finish with good chemical resistance. It is available is a wide range of colours and has a theoretical coverage of 5 sq.m/litre at 50 microns.
