Plascoat informs us that it is continuing to open up new performance and cost saving opportunities for coaters serving the water industry - now winning DWI approval for the electrostatic spray (ES) version of its advanced PPA571 material.

According to Plascoat the development means that coaters no longer have to invest in dedicated fluidised bed dipping facilities to reap the advantages of the performance polymer alloy over traditional water industry coatings for pipes and fittings.

The Department of the Environment's Drinking Water Inspectorate has approved Plascoat PPA571ES in contact with water for drinking, washing, cooking or food production purposes. PPA571ES can be applied using conventional thermoset systems without any requirement for modifications. It is thought that as with the previously approved PPA571 formulation for dip coating, specialists and water companies can expect typical savings of up to 30 per cent over the use of conventional industry coating materials.
