A new corrosion resistant lining system designed to appeal to a broad sweep of fire extinguisher manufacturers was announced by Plascoat Systems at the industry's flagship exhibition, Interschutz, at Augsburg near Munich (20-25 June).
The new system has been developed by Plascoat in conjunction with its specialist engineering partner Gravatom, and is reportedly designed to match midrange production throughput targets with significant powder savings.
The new system will form part of the Falcon series, which already offers small (24 per minute) to large (360 p.m.) performance options based on the coating of metal cylinders using rotational spray technology.
The precision of the Falcon systems is said to allow finer coating tolerances and an even cover with very low powder wastage. Overall powder savings of around 50 per cent are believed to be possible.
The spray gun lance application approach is similar to that used in thermoset coating but is designed for use with new formulations of Plascoat's fire extinguisher lining materials such as PPA665, which meets the European standard ENS and claims a track record of over 20 years, and its versatile PPA571.
Plascoat considers that the combination of the Falcon system and the Plascoat formulations provides efficient corrosion protection offering long term adhesion and excellent crack resistance.
