Precision dosing, where measured liquid volumes are added to batch or in-line processing operations, is the speciality of Tecstream OMG Ltd. The company explains that they design and supply metering/dosing systems for single or multiple product additives to achieve a wide range of chemical properties for many modern production plants where final product quality and consistency are of paramount importance. Typical applications include dosing of performance/protective additives into chemical and petrochemical products.

High accuracy and control, even down to ppm proportional values, can reportedly be achieved, whether additives are being added to larger volumes held in mixing or holding tanks, or injected into pipelines subject to continuous flow conditions. Dose repeatability of better than ± 0.1 per cent is claimed, with controllability and adjustment being either manual or automatic without the need to shut down the processing operation.

Pumphead capacities range from as little as 100cc/hour up to 40,000 litres/hour with maximum discharge pressures of 1,000 barG. Pumphead designs include hydraulically activated diaphragm with a double diaphragm version generally used for pumping hazardous and harmful chemicals where inter-diaphragm leak detection is provided. A plunger type pump is specified for general duties and includes a double acting position type for high capacities. A mechanically operated inlet/outlet valve type is also available for pumping solids in suspension.

Automatic control and capacity variation is by pneumatic or electrical positioner, each providing closed loop feedback, while automatic setting from plant plc and personnel computers enables positive totalisation of pumped volumes.

Pumphead construction materials range from 316 stainless steel as standard with hastolloy, PVC, PTFE and ceramics also being used, claiming excellent chemical compatibility for a wide range of products. Up to 20 pumpheads per machine with groupable multiplex units incorporating different series pumps can be supplied to cover the most demanding application requirements.
