In February 2001, Axson's 2015 resin and hardener of the same name were approved by Lloyd's Register (Plate 2).

We are informed that, thanks to this approval, the Epolam 2015 wet lay-up laminating system, designed for the fabrication of parts, structures and accessories for shipyards, racing yachts and pleasure craft, is now referenced and accredited for use by manufacturers, design offices, architects and specialised boatyards. The Lloyd's Register certificate confirms Axson's recommended conditions of use for Epolam 2015 and its hardener.

The Epolam 2015 kit is based on the association of several different compatible and miscible hardeners. As these hardeners (to be certified at a later date) harden at different speeds, the Epolam 2015 provides a flexible solution for a wide variety of applications and ensures optimal control of product reactivity.

Designed for a wide range of manufacture times, Epolam 2015 can reportedly be used for numerous different applications, from the construction of large parts,such as hulls and decks, to structural repairs.

Claiming excellent physical, thermal and mechanical properties –traction, bending, elasticity, impact resistance, Epolam 2015 is thought to be a truly innovative product on the laminating resins market. Its qualities are said to include a high ability to be soaked, low moisture pick-up and low viscosity.

Moreover, the 2015 system claims good vertical adherence, contains no MDA or DDM, thus reducing toxicity, has little odour, is highly transparent and is resistant to UV rays.

The excellent performance of Epolam 2015 has reportedly been demonstrated in a number of construction projects including the hull of the Solidaireyacht, skippered by Thierry Dubois and the yacht used by Bernard Stamm (carbon epoxy hull) to set a new record for the west-to-east Atlantic crossing. It is also used for the construction of moulded wooden boats (MCM, Tunisie, Naval Force 3 boatyards), surfboards (JPK, FLY) and composite structures for French navy submarines and large deck components.
