Sachtleben recently announced two developments in the field of UV protection and innovative colour effects for paints and coatings. The first new development is Hombitec® RM, which the company informs us, not only provides optimum UV protection, but also permits attractive colour effects. In combination with aluminium flakes, for example, Hombitec RM is said to produce the so-called flip-flop effect in metallic-finish paints.

The second development is a functional additive named Sachtoperse®,described as an extremely fine-particled synthetic barium sulphate, it is said to assist in the efficient stabilisation of coloured pigments against flocculation. In combination, Sachtoperse and Hombitec RM are stated to form a high-power team for the high-quality paint systems used in automotive applications, and also for industrial coatings.
