The "G'' series of mechanically actuated diaphragm pumps has recently been extended following the introduction of the new GM version. These dosing pumps are reportedly particularly suitable for water treatment applications where there is a need for safe and efficient transfer of liquids such as coagulants, caustics and acids (Plate 8).

Available through dosing and mixing specialists Milton Roy UK, the, GM series pumps are of all- metal construction so they can be easily multiplexed for automatic process situations. Multiplexing is possible with the same or different heads, flow rates and materials. Servos can also be added to permit automatic stroke control,

Models are available which provide flows from 2lit/hour up to 500lit/hour, at pressures up to 12bar. The wide choice of motor options extends to those for use in hazardous areas and others which enable variable speed control. Stroke counting is also reported to be possible which means the pumps can be used for batching applications.

Single or double mechanically actuated PTFE diaphragms can be specified, whilst stainless steel, polypropylene and PVDF liquid ends are supplied. as standard.

The pumps also incorporate a variable eccentric system for stroke length adjustment. This feature, usually found in much larger pumps, helps to reduce the shocks created by spring return lost motion designs which are traditionally used in pumps with these output ranges. Also, the use of ball-bearings and an absolute minimum of moving components, ensures minimum friction and so eliminates the build-up of heat in the drive. Milton Roy asserts that these features all combine to make a significant contribution to the reliability and durability of the pump.
