Rhodia PPD reports that it has appointed Chance and Hunt as distributor for its range of phosphorous derivatives. This is the first time Rhodia has used a chemicals distributor to market and sell these speciality additives and the company has ambitions to significantly grow their business through the sector focus provided by Chance and Hunt.
Steve Crelling, Rhodia's regional sales manager for UK, Africa and the Middle East said, "We have been in discussion with a number of distributors and selected Chance and Hunt as our preferred partner, the decision has been based on a number of key criteria. Most importantly Chance and Hunt is already active in and has specialised knowledge of the key markets sectors for our product range. This includes paints, inks, adhesives, water treatment and detergents. Their service levels meet our high standards and they have the expert capability to research and develop the market for these speciality additives".
Chance and Hunt has actively pursued a strategy to build strong product portfolios in sectors where they have particular expertise. A number of significant recent additions to their product portfolio support the wisdom of such a strategy. Peter Fields, managing director explains, "In parallel to our bulk chemicals business we are building a number of discrete business units modelled on our very successful animal nutrition and health business, C and H Nutrition which was set up 12 years ago. By grouping our product portfolio and aligning it to meet the broader needs of our customers we are addressing an accelerating trend which sees fewer suppliers working more closely with and having a better understanding of customers overall requirements."
