Baxenden Chemicals Ltd figured prominently amongst the major league when it exhibited recently at the 2002 International Coatings Expo, in New Orleans. The company had on show its innovative product developments for the surface coatings, adhesives and sealants industries.
The Speciality Chemicals Division is said to be at the forefront of blocked isocyanate technology, including water-based low temperature unblocking systems,for applications such as coil and automotive coatings.
In the limelight was the company’s most recent developments, including unblocking as low as 100°C and hybrid-blocked isocyanates offering improved compatibility. The technology claims increased line speeds and reduction in VOC levels.
Baxenden’s non-blocked technology includes a range of aromatic and aliphatic isocyanate based prepolymers. The Trixene and Quasilan series contains both solvent and solvent-free systems, which can be formulated into one pack moisture cure, moisture activated and two pack systems.
A major feature on the stand were details of a range of prepolymers containing residual TD 1 levels below 0.1 per cent.
Other products featured were urethane resins for ink flexibilisation, a urethane bisoxazolidine and moisture scavengers.
