BASF Coatings: Tultitlán site certified

BASF Coatings de México S.A. de C.V. with its Tultitlán site is among that country’s first corporations to comply with the stringent demands of the ISO/TS 16949: 2002 quality management system. Following the successful audit, “DQS Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen mbH” in late January, recommended that this plant be certified. ISO/TS 16949 is the latest and most sophisticated quality management system, combining the stringent standards which the American and European automobile industry expect their suppliers to meet. In the past, BASF Coatings de México on several occasions was already successfully certified according to older standards. “The new award enables us to meet our international customers’ quality expectations at this early stage”,emphasizes Dr Gerold Mahr, General Manager of BASF Coatings de México.“For instance, DaimlerChrysler expects all its suppliers to comply with the standards of TS 16949 by mid-2004 – we are therefore, ideally placed to meet the future requirements and respond to any changes.”
