This is an extremely specialised homage to a dear, departed, friend, John Barkley Rosser, Jr., whose academic stance and work I have admired for over forty years. I was first introduced to his work in capital theory, but this article is mainly about discontinuities, the “4 C’s” and a paean for the generalists that he championed in, and for, economic theory viewed as emergent and evolutionary.
