It is an honor and a pleasure to introduce this special issue in honor of the late Richard (Dick) Hollis Day (1933–2021). Cofounder with Sidney Winter of the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization (JEBO), he would later encourage this writer to found this journal, thus making him a kind of godfather to this journal as well in spirit. Themes of his work and ideas are also themes regularly dealt with in this journal, and some of his seminal influences, notably the late Herbert Simon, are also inspirations for this journal as well.
