This paper reviews the studies on corporate finance-related topics in family firms, including ownership structure, corporate governance, and corporate risk-taking, among other research topics. We discuss the effects of unique characteristics in family firms, review the studies and theories applied in these studies, and propose potential research directions. At the end of this article, we also briefly introduce the papers that are published in this special issue which contributes to interdisciplinary studies on corporate finance in family firms.
