Competing with artificial intelligence – can the records and information management profession withstand the challenge?

Sherry Li Xie received MLIS from McGill University, and MAS and PhD from University of British Columbia; worked as Librarian, Archivist and Records Manager in universities and governments in Canada and adjunct professor at the iSchool at UBC, Canada; and currently work as Professor, School of Information Resource Management, Renmin University of China; Associate Director, Center for Electronic Records Management Research; Research Fellow, Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Engineering, Ministry of Education of China. Li Siyi,, received BA in Archival Science (Zhengzhou University) and MA and PhD in Archival Science (Renmin University of China). She is currently a Lecturer at the School of Culture Heritage and Information Management, Shanghai University, researching on the interplays between government information management and the freedom of information realm. Recent representative publication: Exploring the Relationships between Freedom of Information and Institutional Information Management in the Chinese Government: An Empirical Study (2018 ASIS&T Annual Meeting).

Ruohua Han received MS in Management Science (majoring in Archival Science) (Renmin University of China). She is currently a Library and Information Science PhD candidate at the School of Information Sciences, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her research focuses on personal archives, everyday information behavior and practices, memory studies, and community archives. Recent representative publication: Understanding “Bao Xi Bu Bao You” in the Sharing of Emotion-Associated Personal Events in Chinese Families from the Perspective of Adult Children (Library Trends, vol. 70, no. 2, 2021).
