The following report details a media conversion project undertaken at Northumbrian Water's Head Office based in Durham. Drawing on experience of a pilot document image processing (DIP) system for invoices the project covers the Asset Management Plan which is a detailed assessment of every company asset and its business value as at 31st July, 1994. Although this was a genuine project it was written up as an assessed piece of work for the University of Northumbria at Newcastle. It addresses subjects covered in the Non‐Current Records and Media Conversion Unit of the Information and Records Management Post Graduate Diploma course. The project was written specifically to show an appropriate level of understanding of the course unit — some points are deliberately stressed for the purposes of the assignment.
