This is an addition to the splendid Cambridge Companions to Literature series. Christopher Bigsby has assembled a distinguished cast of contributors for a volume devoted to Arthur Miller, who is without doubt the foremost living American dramatist. In an informative introduction, Bigsby assesses Miller’s life, career, and writings. He writes: “At the center of his work...is a concern to see in private lives the origin of public issues” (interestingly, Cambridge University Press in a volume typeset in Sabon 10/13 pt and printed at the University Press, Cambridge, mix US and UK spelling.)
