This wine book was published in October 1997 but it is noticed that Robert Joseph’s introduction is dated July 1996. Maybe there is a good reason for this, but if there is it is not made clear. Perhaps it would have been a good idea not to have dated the preface in this way. However, after this initial quibble, and after concentrating on the pages that follow, it may be said straightaway that here is a compendium packed with information about the wines of the world, and generously illustrated to boot.
