Not to put too fine a point on it, this massive, illustrated, two‐volume work has all the appearance of one whose time has come if, indeed, it is not long overdue. At a time when specialist reference publishers are constantly on the look‐out for new and worthwhile topics, it is barely conceivable that it has taken until now to publish such a work.
