Musical Theater Synopses: An Index

This reference work is no exception to the rule that it is always a wise policy to read the introductions in new ones before shelving and consulting them. It tells us that it is a supplement to the author’s Index to Opera, Operetta and Musical Comedy (1978). Presumably it does not supersede that earlier work, but it considerably expands it by including ballet, oratorios, dramatic cantatas, minstrel shows, and plays, film and television production with music as well as several non‐western forms including Kabuki, Beijing opera and Chinese plays.
