Collective Biography of Women in Britain, 1550‐1900: A Select Annotated Bibliography

This annotated bibliography is an interesting and thoroughly well researched book. Three examples will give an indication of its scope: Entry number 25 is the 1703 publication of John Tomkins and others’ Piety Promoted in Brief Memorials of the Virtuous Lives, Services and Dying Sayings of some of the People called Quakers. This volume of biographies and its many later editions was intended for “the young of both sexes”.
