It is not often that we come across a book which is the first ever written on its subject, but such is the claim made for this volume. The author certainly knows his subject thoroughly, having 60 years’ experience of model‐building. This period would take him back to the earliest years of radio‐controlled ship models, which, as he explains, arose out of earlier naval projects to develop remote‐controlled explosive craft. The real world also influenced that of models when the demands of the space programme led to the miniaturisation of radio equipment.
