Being very interested in cookery, I was quite excited to receive this title, assuming, erroneously as it turned out, that it would actually contain recipes (or receipts, to use the term preferred by the redoubtable and late‐lamented Jennifer Patterson). However, what it really is, is an index to the recipes contained in 20 popular (and therefore readily available ‐ in the USA that is) American cookery books.
