Traditional African Names

Although the list of references on p. 387 to p. 389 of this book shows that this is far from being a pioneer on the subject of African names, the topic is sufficiently rarely treated as to merit close attention. But before going any further this review must draw attention to two limitations in its coverage. First, it lists only personal names, and not names of places or geographical features; second, on page 17 the primary country residences of the ethnics mentioned lists only nine African countries, these being Burundi, Congo (Zaire), Kenya, Ruanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe....
